2006 Volkswagen T2 Aircooled Kombi Special Edition ‘Serie Prata’ – low miles, leather, chrome, a bit of VW history … £23995

Built in December 2005, AUT is one of 200 (originally) all silver T2 Kombis built to commemorate the end of the legendary Aircooled engine.  New legislation in Brazil from January 2006 required all new vehicles to be quieter, more frugal and with improved emissions.  The final version of the flat four power unit found in such a Volkswagen is fuel injected, has a catalyst, electronic ignition and all governed by an ECU, so they run extremely well.  No carburettors to worry about!

This particular example was bought new at Danbury Motorcaravans and then had some cosmetic changes.  The standard satin black headlamp rings, bumpers and mirrors were replaced with chrome items.  The factory tinted windows were enhanced in the centre and rear areas of the cabin with a darker shade.  The interior was converted into the Danbury Diamond configuration featuring the regular small kitchen unit but with the addition of the practical B-unit behind the driver’s seat.  Finally a coat of VW Candy White was applied to the top half of the camper to match the poptop.

The mileage remains incredibly low at just 15,000 and for that reason the Kombi is in very good condition. The most recent owner treated the camper to a brand new fridge recently.  This VW bus is a delight to drive and is a perfect throwback to all those years when the T2 was powered by air-cooled engines.  A bonus of this example is that it has been deemed ULEZ compliant so won’t incur a daily ULEZ charge in areas where that may apply.
